Hey sorry, but my question didn’t fit in the ask!
Hi, I’m Grace. I stumbled across your blog because of a reblog of that guy girlfriend/wife faux meme pic, and I’m really intrigued by what you have to say here and on “you might be a liberal.” I can’t say I identify with a political party, or any political ideology for that matter. While this is probably insensitive, and you get this a lot, it struck me as oxymoronic for you to be a conservative lesbian. Would you say this is because of your political ideology rather than your party? Again, I don’t mean at all to be intentionally offensive or ignorant. I just wonder how you justify the Republican view on gay marriage. And you certainly don’t have to respond if that’s too personal.
But hey, thanks for reading this far, and I’d really like to hear more from you! Thanks for getting me thinking.
My political ideology is conservative and, for the most part, that syncs up with the party I am registered with. The Republican party.
At least they sync up more than they would with the Democratic party.
I justify the Republican view on gay marriage with the fact that I don’t believe in gay marriage…or marriage at all, at least not as part of the government. I believe that marriage should be a religious ceremony. Civil Unions are the way for government contracts to be done.
That would solve the issue of church and state getting all tangled up in this marriage debate.
